Tess M. Reutzel graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She obtained her Juris Doctor (cum laude) from California Western School of Law, where she was a recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship and a member of the Pro Bono Honor’s Society.
Attorney Reutzel is dedicated to providing cost-effective legal representation. Her practice is 100 percent devoted to family law cases such as divorce, custody and visitation, and child and spousal support, so her attention is fully focused on the family law field.
Ms. Reutzel is a Certified Family Law Specialist (Certified by the State Bar of California), so her clients can be assured that she always keeps current with this ever-changing area of law. This distinction is reserved only for family law attorneys that have met stringent qualification criteria, including extensive trial and negotiation experience.
Attorney Reutzel is on the minor’s counsel panel, wherein she is appointed by family law judges to be the voice of children in the middle of custody disputes. Inclusion on this panel requires specialized training on representing children and ongoing continuing education on the subject.
Ms. Reutzel also has taught the American Constitution and Business Law at the collegiate level.
Ms. Reutzel’s psychology training provides her with insight and a deep understanding of the emotional toll divorce has upon the parties and the children involved, and she therefore excels in managing high-conflict cases.She has a special interest in protecting victims of domestic violence and has volunteered extensive time at the YWCA domestic violence legal clinic.
When not practicing family law, Ms. Reutzel enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children and practicing yoga.
